What to do in case of emergency?

Medical emergencies occur unexpectedly and are characterized by symptoms that are so severe that they must be evaluated and treated promptly. If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of facing an emergency, we recommend that you proceed as follows:
Pregnancy Emergencies
1. Call us to discuss your symptoms and how severe they are.
2. If you are experiencing severe pain, bleeding, or contractions, please report immediately to the maternity ward at your birthing hospital.
Gynecological Emergency
1. Try to assess the severity of the emergency (e.g., am I experiencing heavy bleeding and/or severe pain?).
2. Call us to determine whether we can treat the emergency at the office.
3. If you cannot reach us, please contact the 24-hour emergency number for your area (see below).
4. If there is no other option, please go to the emergency department of the hospital of your choice.
Notes
Since emergencies can arise unexpectedly, you should unfortunately expect wait times—both at the hospital and at the doctor’s office. We do our very best to assess and treat emergencies promptly. Due to a busy schedule, it is unfortunately unavoidable that we can only offer you one, or at most two, appointment options for emergencies. Please understand that your preferred appointment time may not be available.
Prescription refills, annual checkups, minor ailments, etc., are generally not considered medical emergencies. However, we maintain a list for last-minute appointment requests, which we’ll be happy to coordinate with you, for example, when appointments are canceled.

In the Canton of Zurich, you can call the free 24-hour medical hotline at 0800 33 66 55 for advice and, if necessary, be connected to an on-call emergency physician.
This also applies to the towns of Adliswil, Gattikon, Hirzel, Horgen, Hütten, Kilchberg, Langnau, Oberrieden, Richterswil, Rüschlikon, Samstagern, Schönenberg, Thalwil, Wädenswil, and Zurich.
In the canton of Schwyz, you will be served by a different emergency medical service depending on your district:
The Höfner doctors (Bäch SZ, Feusisberg, Freienbach, Pfäffikon, Wilen, and Wollerau) can be reached at 0840 81 81 81.
